The word’s “techneer” and “techneering” were first coined by Douglas Wardle at Acorn Enterprises, in March of 2000, while attending Dixie State College.  "Techneer" is two words combined, “technological” and “pioneer.”
          “Techneer” is a term used for a person who is pioneering, by researching and developing new knowledge and/or the way to put technology to use in new ways.
          “Techneering” is the act of technological pioneering.


          In April 2002, it was also decided by the president of Acorn Enterprises to use the new term as the name of "Acorn Enterprises’" new web sites.
